SHARE had the opportunity to set up a booth and to help out at the Non Dot Adventures Race held at Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park and Laguna Niguel Regional Park on July 19, 2015. The race was the second race of the OC Classic Mountain Bike Race Series that is put on by the Non Dot Adventures Club. The first race in the professional series was the Whiting Ranch Time Trial on March 21, 2015. There are two remaining races ? at Irvine Regional Park and Santiago Oaks on September 26, 2015 and at Caspers Wilderness Park on November 14, 2015. Upon completion of each race, the individual racers acquire points that are added together at the end of the 4-race series to determine the overall winner of the series in each of the 17 categories of racers. The race series is designed for all levels of riders ? from beginners to pro ? and the courses for each category are determined according to the level of rider.
Although the day of the race was extremely hot and humid, the racers were excited to be there and put in the extra efforts needed to complete the race in the tough conditions. After the race, the riders came back to the race staging area for food and drinks that were provided by the Non Dot Adventure Race Club and their sponsors. The top racers in each category were announced and presented their awards at the podium in the staging area. A highlight of the day was the kid?s race that was held in the staging area after the main race ? kids of all ages rode laps around the volunteer booths and even had the opportunity to go over a small ramp that was built for the race.
It was a fun day, and a great opportunity for the riders to be a part of a professional mountain bike race series that includes challenging courses in the Orange County Parks while at the same time promoting a positive atmosphere that encourages friendly competition and participation by all levels of riders.
