Warriors Society Trail Work event – Bridge building on the San Juan Trail

Published on November 5, 2010 under Trail Work

In partnership with Rich Julien and the San Diego Mountain Biking Association (SDMBA), the Warrior’s Society will be installing a bridge on the San Juan Trail in a section that has been washed out.

We need assistance carrying the joists for the bridge that will require 4 people a piece, plus the other lumber and tools

Sponsors include Stone Pale Ale and Squadra clothing along with our 2010 sponsors Shimano, Cannondale, Rock N Road Cyclery, Switchback Cyclery and O’Hara’s Pub.

Here’s the info:

Date: Saturday, November 20th.

Time: leaving by 8:30

Meeting place: Inside Blue Jay Campground – off the Ortega Highway. Some of us will be camping overnight at a yet to be determined campsite – those who want to camp can camp for free. Dinner and breakfast will be provided to those camping out.

Details: construction of a pre-fabricated bridge over a washed out section of the San Juan Trail. To transport the materials we will need four people per joist = 12. They are beasts. There will also be 30 planks to divide up with five wheelbarrows tying 6 planks on each. We have two wheelbarrows so we’ll need three more so if you have one to lend for the project let us know.

Lunch in San Juan will be provided afterward.

If you can help out and let us know if you want to camp out so we’ll have enough dinner/breakfast.
