Orange County Bike Park – Status
SHARE Mountain Bike Club, the local IMBA Chapter, is partnering with OC Parks and IMBA to provide local support and guidance, fund raising, and ultimately volunteers for construction and maintenance activities. In 2015, SHARE will be kicking off fund raising activities, seeking grants, and allocating profits from SHARE events such as the club’s annual Poker Ride to the Craig Bike Park project. Be a part of the process to create this historic Orange County Bike Park. Information from OC Parks website is here
Funding – Preliminary Phases
The Bike Park Initiative Grant is an IMBA-led project designed to foster the development of world-class bike park facilities across the country. In early 2014, OC Parks initiated a study with the IMBA Trail Solutions program to determine the feasibility of hosting bike park activities in Orange County and to explore creating facilities within OC Parks. Several existing county regional park locations were considered in a draft study. Craig Regional Park was selected as the most feasible due to the proposed site location, size, topography, and proximity of amenities. The proposed project involves creating a non-motorized bike facility for all ages, abilities, and skill level. The project area is approximately 10 acres and is located at the southernmost part of Craig Regional Park. The design and construction of the Craig Park Bike Facility is a multi year and costly effort. This project is in the very early phases. This is the time to get involved.
