Crystal Cove State Park – Mountain Bike Patrol

Crystal Cove State Park – Volunteer Recognition Event

The mountain bike patrol program, originally formed by SHARE Mtb Club over 10 years ago, is coordinated by the State Park Service as a volunteers in the park program.

Last weekend, Crystal Cove State Park (CCSP) hosted a Volunteer Recognition party. The members of the CCSP Trail Assistant Volunteer Program attended wearing their new Trail Assistant Volunteer jerseys made possible by a generous donation from SHARE Mountain Bike Club and produced by IMBA Industry partner Primal Ware.

2014CCSPTAV(sm)

The Trail Assistant Volunteer Program currently consists of 37 dedicated volunteers partnering with California State Park personnel, to assist, educate and inform all back country trail users. Assist all trail users in order to enhance their recreational back country experience. Educate trail users of CCSP information and rules. Inform California State Park personnel concerning back country conditions and emergencies. Each volunteer typically has one four hour shift per month to go out and ride the trails they love.

Congratulations to Steve

Congratulations to our current President and TAV Steve Larson on receiving the California Poppy Award for exemplary volunteer service to the California State Parks. The award was announced at the 2014 Crystal Cove State Park Volunteer Recognition Party.

Skyline Trail – Trail Work Day – Big Bear

Skyline Trail – Trail Work Day – September – SHARE was there!

Several SHARE Mountain Bike Club members volunteered with the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation on a trail work day building the Skyline Trail in Big Bear on Saturday September 13.

Skyline Trail Description

Learn about the Skyline Trail on MTBPROJECT.COM

The Skyline Trail is a collaboration of the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation and the US Forest Service. It’s the first new single track in Big Bear in 20 years, and offers users an alternative to the highly used dirt roads near the top of Snow Summit in the Big Bear Lake area. This cross country single track has stunning views of Mt. San Gorgonio and travels through rock outcroppings and ponderosa pine forests at close to 8,000 feet of elevation. How long is Skyline? As of last year, the Skyline Trail is 8.5 miles one way, from the junction of 2N10/2N06 on the east end to where it finally crosses over 2N10 again on the west end. Several miles where added this summer.
